Roy started his journey into Photography at the tender age of 17, when his parents bought him a Pentax K-1000 for Christmas one year. During his senior year in High School, he studied Photography as an elective at St. Andrew's Sewanee School in St Andrew's Tennessee. During this time he learned the art of Black and White Processing and Developing. He was also the Head Photographer for the Annual Yearbook, as well as the Editor of the Apogee, the School's Journalism Newspaper, which was published in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Roy joined the Navy in 1982 straight out of High School, and continued his photographic experience onboard the USS America (CV-66) having traveled half way around the world twice. During this time, Roy worked with several types of cameras, after leaving his prized K-1000 in the back seat of a taxi cab in Malaga Spain, along with about $400 worth of Cokin Filters.
Within the past 2 years, Roy discovered the magic of Digital Photography. On October 1st, 2007, Roy officially opened Roy's Photography.
After undertaking a very personal project that pushed the limits of his photographic skills into the Digital Video arena, Roy formed Akeni Rose Imaging, a subsidiary of Roy's Photography, on March 1st, 2008. Akeni Rose Imaging takes the lead in the digital imaging branch of Roy's Photography and eventually become the company Banner Name. Roy's Photography will continue to exist in conjunction with Akeni Rose Imaging and provide the same services as before. Akeni Rose Imaging's official roll was is April 1st, 2008.
