Akeni Rose Imaging

Roy G Pender IV (Photographer/Owner)

Roy started his journey into Photography at the tender age of 17, when his parents bought him a Pentax K-1000 for Christmas one year.  During his senior year in High School, he studied Photography as an elective at St. Andrew's Sewanee School in St Andrew's Tennessee.  During this time he learned the art of Black and White Processing and Developing.  He was also the Head Photographer for the Annual Yearbook, as well as the Editor of the Apogee, the School's Journalism Newspaper, which was published in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Roy joined the Navy in 1982 straight out of High School, and continued his photographic experience onboard the USS America (CV-66) having traveled half way around the world twice.  During this time, Roy worked with several types of cameras, after leaving his prized K-1000 in the back seat of a taxi cab in Malaga Spain, along with about $400 worth of Cokin Filters.

Within the past 2 years, Roy discovered the magic of Digital Photography.  On October 1st, 2007, Roy officially opened Roy's Photography.

After undertaking a very personal project that pushed the limits of his photographic skills into the Digital Video arena, Roy formed Akeni Rose Imaging, a subsidiary of Roy's Photography, on March 1st, 2008.  Akeni Rose Imaging takes the lead in the digital imaging branch of Roy's Photography and eventually become the company Banner Name.  Roy's Photography will continue to exist in conjunction with Akeni Rose Imaging and provide the same services as before.  Akeni Rose Imaging's official roll was is April 1st, 2008.

Becca Atherton first showed up as a model during a TFCD shoot for the groundwork of preparing Roy's Photography to open to the public.  During the shoot, and a few drinks, Roy and Becca discovered that they both shared the same love of photography.  Becca arrived a little early for her shoot, while another TFCD shoot was going on, and immediately jumped in with make up tips, hair tips, and pose suggestions.  Her background in Make up, Hair, and Photography became an instrumental "shot in the arm" to the developmental stages of the groundwork for the business.

Becca's unique experiences and credentials are a credit to this fledgling small business.  Her credentials can be found under the link for Hair Stylist/Make Up Artist.

Sheri Snekvik(Photo Assistant/Admin)

Sheri also joined the team after participating in a TFCD Shoot during the developmental phase of Roy's Photography.  Sheri has always had a passion for photography, especially in the field of nature and architecture.  She has done some studio work for Wal Mart and K-Mart as well.  Her photographic interests also have expanded to coverage of a few local bands in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas Texas.  She has participated in several photo contests online and has had one of her architecture photos published in one of the annual books.

Sheri shoots with a Cannon EOS XTI.  She currently serves as a Photographers Assistant and is growing in her experience weekly.  She is learning editing skills in Photo Shop and other software.
Sheri's photo shoots have been so fun and productive that she presented herself to the modeling community through OneModelPlace.Com, where she has a small portfolio.  She surpassed over 5000 hits from photographers all over the country within one week.  (Easily surpassing the hits of Roy's Photography on the same site).  If you wish to see Sheir's portfolio, please click on the link on the home page of this site, and go through the portfolio of Roy's Photography until you come to Sheri's pictures.  You can link directly to her portfolio from there.

Sheri also serves as the Administrative and Finance Officer of Roy's Photography.  She is a Veteran of the US Army, having spent time in Iraq right after the fall of Baghdad.  As a member of the Supply Corps, Sheri is a seasoned combat veteran, having guarded the Baghdad International Airport (formerly known as the Saddam Hussein International Airport) for 15 consecutive months.  It is a deep honor to have a fellow Veteran onboard with Roy's Photography.  I guess the only conflict that will arise between Sheri and the owner is the day the infamous Army/Navy game is held in college football.
